The lodge’s guided afternoon bushwalks introduce travelers to a picture book of rural African living: people busy with traditional food preparations, small scale farming and magnificent baobab trees, hidden in a sea of coconut palms.
The secluded casas have spacious decks, with hammocks and ensuite outdoor showers with panoramic views over the palm grove and ocean. All buildings are set on raised wooden decks with roll-up canvas walls under a thatched roof and in close proximity to the beach. The lodge is entirely solar powered – ensuring a light environmental footprint.
Off the beaten track yet easily accessible from Vilankulos or Inhambane, Travessia offers family practicality, villa privacy and true relaxation. Loved by families, couples and single travelers alike.

Bay View Lodge is in Barra (Praia da Barra), on the north-eastern tip of the beautiful Barra peninsula, with an estuary behind, and a long sandy beach in front of the lodge. It is a place to leave your stress behind, explore the underwater wonderland on your doorstep and enjoy the night sky, far away from bright city lights.

All houses are equipped for self-catering, but if the idea of cooking is just too much, well …. welcome to enjoy meals in our pub/restaurant The Green Turtle or visit several other little pubs/restaurants in the area, within easy walking distance of the lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily and kids are very welcome at all restaurants in the area.    

There are lots of activities in the area, some offered by third parties – fishing, diving, snorkelling, markets, birding, photography, etc. etc. 

We are approximately 485km north of Maputo, 25km from Inhambane town, and 15km from Tofo, in Inhambane Province, Mozambique. All roads leading to the lodge are tarred, except for the last 4km, which is a well maintained gravel road. It has been hard packed with coral sand, making it easy to reach us with a normal passenger vehicle, without any difficulty. No 4×4 vehicle is needed but is good to have if you want to explore off the beaten track.

Zavora Lodge Mozambique is located in the Inhambane province approximately 420km North of Maputo and a 2 hours’ drive South of Inhambane. We offer from camping to fully equipped self-catering units ideal for families or groups of friends, beachfront and behind the dune accommodation is available for adventurers and budget-conscious families. All within walking distance from the beach. The entire family will have a good time on holiday thanks to our recent upgrades at the lodge.

Zavora is well known for its enormous protective reef that runs 2 kilometres parallel and near to the shore. This reef serves as a natural tidal pool with calm, shallow waters that are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and fishing. We take fishing seriously and provide deep sea charter experiences. Dunes de Dovela is Southern Mozambique’s only eco lodge surrounded by virgin coastal woodland. Situated about 400 kilometers north of Maputo and 80 kilometers south of Inhambane, we offer seven all-inclusive tented luxury suites and bungalows overlooking the aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean. In a malaria-free setting with no predators, you can explore the woodlands with our guided walks or on your own and from our bird Hide in the heart of the forest.

Our stretch of Indian Ocean is home to sea turtles, manta rays, whale sharks and of course, the majestic humpback whales. From July to October we offer unobstructed views of humpback whales migration where you can watch dozens of whales breach and play while dining, sipping a glass of wine on your veranda deck or relaxing on the beach.
