Kibale National Park

Turaco Treetops is a lush semi-luxury lodge on the edge of Kibale National Park. The lodge sits under 5.2 hectares of rainforest, which creates a serene green environment for a perfect hideaway. Some of the lodge visitors that hang around the lodge grounds include various bird species like the famous Great blue turaco (which inspires the lodge name), butterflies, monkeys, and primates like Bush Babies, Black and White Colobus monkeys.

Turaco’s main building features a stylish restaurant, a lounge area with a cozy fireplace, a bar, an outside terrace, and a first-floor lounge with spectacular views over the forest. Enjoy a sumptuous meal, read a book, watch the butterflies and birds, play a game, or grab a drink and watch the sun setting behind Mount Stanley. Free WiFi and charging docks are available in the main building.

The lodge is family-friendly, offering kids an outdoor playground and an indoor kids’ room in our main building. The pool on the premised also caters to children with a shallow end.

Our elegant tented camp is located in a patch of evergreen forest, just outside the southern part of Kibale Forest National Park. It borders the Magombe swamp, known for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary and is a mere 10 min drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Center, the place from where your chimp track will start.

All of our nine spacious and en-suite Luxury Cottages, each secluded deep in the forest for maximum privacy and a natural ‘living in nature’ feel, come complete with 2x Double size Bed or 1x King Size Bed, a sitting area with two comfortable arm chairs, a reading table and an adjoining large veranda with excellent views to the forest. The seven mid-level Forest Cottages are private and en-suite with spacious bathrooms, 2x Twin size Beds or 1x King Size Bed as well as a spacious veranda over-looking the rain-forest with lounge chairs. The popular double storied ‘Elephant Banda’ has an upstairs bedroom fitted with a giant King size Bed and a downstairs living room where we can also place a smaller extra bed. As a double occupancy, it is very popular with honeymooners, anniversaries and the ‘hopeless romantics’ who can also enjoy private lounging and dining at the extensive upstairs veranda that seems to go right into the forest.

Other lodge amenities include a spacious dining terrace, a well-stocked bar, complimentary room service, a secluded lounge area with a small library, an evening camp fire, laundry service (at a small fee) as well as free WiFi in the public areas.
